In an unexpected turn of events, we moved to a new home at the end of 2023! It was something we had been discussing, but we were never sure what the path forward looked like. Suddenly, God was putting a plan in motion, doors were opening, and in October we closed on a new home.

As I began making our house a home, I turned to scripture for some guidance and read Isaiah 32:18, “My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.” This a description of what living with the Lord is like. When we are fully entered into His presence and have been restored by Him, we have peaceful, secure, and undisturbed homes. Those words described exactly what I wanted within our four walls, and the only way to achieve that is to ensure that God lives with us as well.
As a mother, wife, and working fulltime, I set out to make a list of ways to ensure our house was a home, that included God in our dwelling place.
Pray. Pray. And Pray Some More.
In the busyness of my job, moving, and life– I had let my prayer life slide. It showed. As my prayers dwindled, so did the peace in my home! Prayer keeps our hearts softened, it increases our patience, and draws God into our dwelling places. I now make it a priority to pray, in my home, everyday.
Add Reminders of Him

I love designing spaces! Colors and textures bring me happiness, but being intentional to fill my home with designs that serve as reminders of the Lord help me remember Him and His goodness. Scripture on the walls is a great start. I also have a beautiful blanket with the words of the Bible on it that rest on a chair I pray in. The Wandering Jew (a plant) on the window sill makes me smile at my own life’s journey. These reminders keep God’s presence in my view.
Use Your Home for Him
I am constantly looking for ways to further His Kingdom through our home. Cooking meals for others and having them over to fellowship has been rewarding and a great reminder of His blessings on our family; these are blessings we can share with friends and family. This home is a ministry. Using that ministry for the good of the Lord keeps our dwelling place in His hands.
My Prayer for Us
Lord, thank you for offering us a home where peace and security can reign. Help us remember to pray, to surround ourselves with reminders of You, and use our homes to glorify Your Kingdom. I pray peace and security over the home of whomever is reading this, with undisturbed rest for all of us. Amen
My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.
