3 Practices To Implement Together!

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25

Team sports and clubs were extracurricular activities I enjoyed in my youth. Working with others toward a common goal was fulfilling, fun, and encouraging. As I got older, and these activities became scrapbook memories, I now realize just how important those times were in helping me develop friendships and lifelong skills. But it was only in the past few years I realized I needed this same dynamic in my Christian walk. It’s a team effort to serve, love, expand the Kingdom, and build a relationship with God!

Yet I was going at it alone, especially when I began college. The college I attended was not in the same town as my home church, and I made no effort in finding in a new place to serve and worship the Lord.

I was praying alone.

Studying alone.

Worshiping alone.

Seeking Him alone.

And I thought that was fine.

God knew it was not fine. He knew I was missing out on the blessings of seeking Him with other believers by my side.

There are times we need to be alone with the Lord, but immersion into a community of believers is crucial to our own accountability, learning, and support.{Tweet This}

After college and becoming a newlywed, I sought out becoming a better wife. Through reading The Power of a Praying Wife, God encouraged me to lead a Bible study. I had never attended a Bible study, let alone led one! Needless to say, the study blessed my life in numerous ways. You can read about my experience and this amazing book by Stormie Omartian here.

The study opened my eyes to how important it is for us to be with like-minded women and believers continually seeking a closer relationship with the Lord. Striving to be a godly woman is a team effort. We don’t need to do it alone! {Tweet This}

Five years later, Hebrews 10:24-25 was read in a yearly Bible study I am now a part of, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

There are 3 important practices found in these two verses:

  1. Spur each other on to love and perform good deeds.
  2. Do not give up meeting together.
  3. Encourage one another. {Tweet These 3 Practices}

To put these practices in place, we must first surround ourselves with other believers. We need a team! A team can then facilitate these practices within our marriage, friendships, and work place, along with joining a Bible study, attending Sunday school and church.

The results of implementing and receiving these practices are the blessings I was missing out on during my college and early marriage years. I thank God He revealed them to me, and I hope He does the same for you!

I want us to look at these practices even closer, become willingly to apply them, and teach them to others.

Over the next three Sundays, be looking for future posts where we will break these 3 practices down further and discuss how to implement them in our lives and within our Christian groups!
